We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated seasonal gardener to join in the maintenance of our site and gardens. The 5-acre gardens include herbaceous borders, woodland planting, an arboretum, topiary and hedging, lawns, ornamental and fruit trees, kitchen garden, shrubs, roses, and more.

This is a wonderful opportunity to become a member of the gardens team working at the award winning [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk]. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated seasonal gardener to join in the maintenance of our site and gardens.
The 5-acre gardens include herbaceous borders, woodland planting, an arboretum, topiary and hedging, lawns, ornamental and fruit trees, kitchen garden, shrubs, roses, and more.
You will be working closely with the Head Gardener to ensure the site and gardens are maintained to a high standard. You must be comfortable in working both alone and as part of a small team which includes volunteers. You will be expected to interact with guests and help answer any questions.
Duties to include:
- Basic gardening tasks
- Weeding of borders
- Pruning, deadheading and cutting back
- Planting out
- Watering and fertilizer application
- Seasonal maintenance
- Keeping paths and paved areas tidy
- Lawn care
- Clearing leaves
- Tree maintenance and hedge cutting
- Other garden maintenance tasks i.e. compost turning, laying woodchip paths
The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role whether paid or voluntary, or will be working towards a relevant horticultural qualification. We are a small team so a positive attitude, attention to detail and a problem-solving mindset are crucial. Please note that our tools and machinery are petrol-based and there is a significant distance between the gardens and composting area, therefore we require candidates to have the physical fitness and morale to complete the above tasks in all weather conditions.
Please be aware before applying that this is a seasonal role which will conclude around November, however there may be the opportunity to rejoin the team in the same role in the following spring.
