Introduction
Founded in January 2019, [Employer hidden] is an impact and data consultancy that supports socially minded businesses to find pragmatic ways to measure and report their impact. We help our clients to build trust with beneficiaries, stakeholders, and funders. Our vision is to change the way organisations talk about the impact they make by leading a transparency revolution powered by technology, high-quality strategic advice, and pragmatic approaches. [Employer hidden] brings together a core team of technical experts in research, evaluation, data science and visualisation.
To date, we have worked with over 110 clients, with 50 current live projects. Our clients include charities, social enterprises, funders, housing associations, and local authorities as well as moving into the corporate sector and education. Some of the recent organisations we’ve worked with are YMCA England and Wales, British Refugee Council, Turn2Us, and Shell. A full list of clients can be found here - https://www.trustimpact.com/our-clients/
As [Employer hidden] grows we are looking to bring in talented and motivated associates to deliver work directly with clients. Data and Analytics Consultants (DACs) work across a range of projects, from strategic assessments of client data and systems to delivery of live data visualisations, primarily using Power BI. As an associate, you will work on a project-by-project basis, as part of [Employer hidden] project teams of up to six people including Research Consultants and Lead Impact Consultants to deliver quality work to clients.
[Employer hidden]’s Three Core Principles
[Employer hidden] was set up to take a pragmatic approach to impact, helping senior teams focus on the things that really matter rather than trying to measure everything, and using beautiful data visualisation to bring their impact story to life. We are driven by three core principles – impact first, keep it simple, and be creative.
1) Impact First
- We believe ‘strategy is impact’ and ‘impact is strategy’. This is why we start all of our work helping leaders gain clarity and alignment on core purpose.
- We believe organisations should ‘measure what matters’, not measure everything. This is why we help leaders think about strategic impact rather than operational KPIs.
- We believe transparency is the best way to build trust. This is why we help leaders understand all aspects of their work, rather than just trying to prove success.
2) Keep It Simple
- We understand that CEOs and senior teams need a clear articulation of the difference their organisation makes. This is why we favour pragmatic, concise and proportionate solutions for our clients.
- We believe ‘complex’ is different to ‘complicated’. This is why we understand that our clients are working to address complex situations, but we won’t make impact complicated.
- We believe impact measurement shouldn’t feel difficult. This is why we deal with any complexity to make the whole process feel seamless and pain-free.
3) Be Creative
- We believe impact is a creative process. We embrace creativity, take risks to develop our learning, and are not afraid to try out new ways to understand impact.
- We believe beautiful use of data helps tell great stories. This is why we use the latest data visualisation techniques and real-time data sources.
- We believe learning is better than outcomes, for us and our clients. This is why we are provocative but respectful in order to reach the most pragmatic solutions.
Key Tasks
As a new Data and Analytics Consultant, you will be focussed on client delivery which is likely to include the following tasks:
- Data and systems assessments – short pieces of discovery-style work to understand the existing state of a client’s data and systems. This will inform later work and provide an opportunity to make early recommendations on areas of strength and opportunities to improve. As always, the focus is on capability for impact measurement but wider data and systems best practices remain relevant.
This will involve liaising directly with client representatives to discuss their setups, as well as system investigation and analysis
- Impact framework measurement support –[Employer hidden] works with clients to deliver a measurable impact framework. The DAC’s role here is to determine what existing datapoints can be used to support measurement of this framework, how existing systems can be better utilised to achieve this and any additional solutions that may be required to ensure the framework can be implemented effectively. It may also be relevant to determine external datasets that could be used for comparison or benchmarking
- Data collection pilot – [Employer hidden] normally partners with clients during a pilot phase of implementing their new measurement framework to support the data collection. The DAC’s role here is to ensure any tech solutions are implemented effectively and work as intended, assess the progress of data collection and suggest any improvements, and begin to use the data that is being collected to start demonstrating the impact framework
- Data visualisation – Either following a data collection pilot or with existing client data, the data visualisation piece is normally lead by the DAC to develop a live product for the client that will provide an interactive report for either internal or external audiences. The purposes of these reports can range from operational focussed internal management reporting to brand and influence focussed external impact reports. [Employer hidden] works primarily with Microsoft Power BI to deliver visualisation, and the DAC is responsible for the design, development and deployment of these solutions, working closely with the client to iterate towards a final product
- Other data projects – [Employer hidden] also works on more bespoke pieces of data projects such as specific data analyses of existing datasets, detailed data mapping exercises and innovative tech projects (including AI sentiment analysis) to determine public opinion. These sorts of projects fall outside the standard [Employer hidden] process but still come up frequently and are available for DACs to work on

How to apply
This post is a contractor role, with a start date as soon as possible. The successful candidate will be assigned to a relevant initial project with management oversight to learn the [Employer hidden] process. Following successful delivery of this first project, the role will likely involve working on 2-6 different client projects at any one time though this may vary depending on demand. The number of billable hours for the DAC will be specific to each project and will be discussed in advance of signing the Associate Agreement for each piece of work. It is expected that the first project will require additional support from the Director of Data and so would be offered at a slightly reduced rate to account for this, as is standard across [Employer hidden].
[Employer hidden] is committed to supporting flexible working. We recognise that applicants may have other commitments (such as work, studying, or childcare) that they wish to accommodate. We would welcome applicants who may not always be available Monday – Friday, 9:00-17:00 but applicants should have sufficient time available during normal working hours to attend client meetings.
If you are interested in applying, please send either your CV and a covering letter (up to 800 words) or a short video submission (max. 3 minutes) or similar, that states how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification to Chantelle Miller at [contact hidden]
We know that people from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic backgrounds are particularly underrepresented in our team, and we are committed to correcting this. We are particularly keen to receive applications from a diverse range of backgrounds. If you are interested in the post but are unsure about applying, PLEASE get in touch! We would be very happy to talk through the requirements of the role and your experience.
