Paralegal
1. Provide support to supervisor/lawyers within the team. This will include: 2. Attending client meetings, internally and externally 3. Attending team meetings 4. Drafting 5. Conducting research 6. Dealing with the administration of Court of Protection matters (see below) 7. Assisting with the administration of power of attorney and trust matters 8. Prepare accurate correspondence, documents and forms in line with the firm’s house style 9. Using precedents efficiently; being able to retrieve relevant documents from firm’s CMS 10. Deal with clients both in person and on the telephone and to provide such support in a professional and friendly manner 11. Taking instructions from clients and advising where applicable, and liaising with and advising other members of staff and the deputy. 12. Monitor cash flow through bank accounts and statements; check credits and debits; monitor and manage bank balances, unpaid bills and work in progress 13. Gather, record and file all paperwork and documentation including electronically 14. Systematic quarterly and annual billing of files 15. Raise and resolve queries, monitor files and case progression efficiently and proactively 16. Check balances for payments, direct debits and standing orders, payment of bills from correct accounts 17. Liaise with clients, carers and families; also with banks, stockbrokers, financial advisers, accountants/tax department, barristers, other parties 18. Answer queries and respond to day to day requests where within remit, refer to and liaise with deputy, other fee earners or external advisers/experts; 19. Prepare paperwork for authorisation 20. Process actions following a decision 21. Assist with marketing events, presentations, etc 22. Carry out any other administrative duties required by fee earners involved in Court of Protection matters and any other duties appropriate to the running of the department
