Develop and execute a comprehensive Procurement strategy in accordance with corporate policies, strategic plans & goals. Train and manage direct reports in the activities related to purchasing and inventory control functions. Serve as ERP / MRP system champion for the materials employee work group. Effectively communicate the Procurement related policies, procedures and best practices to the organization and ensure compliance with same. Work closely with The Director of Operations to ensure efficient and effective processes in the local facility. Inform management of significant materials issues affecting the company.
Essential Duties & Core Responsibilities:
- Supply Chain Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive supply chain strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives and growth plans. Identify and analyze supply chain trends, market conditions, and customer demand patterns to inform strategic decision-making. Collaborate with senior management to ensure the supply chain strategy supports the company's long‑term vision and mission.
- Development of the Procurement team: Motivate the team and ensure continued progress in professional and technical competence.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Streamline the number of approved vendors while refining and developing existing supplier relationships to ensure company expectations are consistently satisfied. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and ensuring reliable supply of high‑quality components and materials. Negotiate and manage supplier contracts, ensuring favorable terms, competitive pricing, and adherence to quality standards. Evaluate and qualify new suppliers, assessing their capabilities, performance history, and alignment with the company's sustainability goals.
- Procurement and Inventory Management: Oversee all Purchasing and Inventory Control transactions and related activities to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures and guidelines. Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize the purchasing of raw materials, components, and subassemblies. Forecast material and component requirements based on production schedules, sales forecasts, and inventory levels. Manage inventory levels effectively to minimize stockouts, reduce carrying costs, and ensure adequate supply for production.
- Supply Chain Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate potential supply chain risks, such as supplier disruptions, transportation delays, and natural disasters. Develop contingency plans to address potential risks and ensure business continuity in the face of disruptions. Implement risk management strategies to minimize the impact of supply chain disruptions on production, customer fulfillment, and overall business operations. Provide root cause analysis and execute corrective action plans with efficiency and effectiveness. Identify and secure alternative / secondary suppliers to ensure the needs of the business can be met without interruption or failure.
- Supply Chain Performance and Analytics: Maintain a clear focus on key performance indicators (KPIs) and communicate with management accordingly. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the supply chain and track progress towards improvement goals. Analyze supply chain data to identify areas for improvement, potential bottlenecks, and opportunities for cost reduction. Utilize data‑driven insights to inform strategic decisions, optimize supply chain processes, and enhance overall supply chain performance. - Sustainability and Environmental Impact: Integrate sustainability principles into the supply chain strategy, prioritising environmentally friendly practices and reducing the company's environmental footprint. Collaborate with suppliers to implement sustainable sourcing practices, reduce packaging waste, and optimize transportation routes to minimise environmental impact. Monitor and report on the company's supply chain sustainability performance, ensuring alignment with environmental goals and regulations.
