A leading technology manufacturer in Cambridge is seeking a Senior Verification & Validation Engineer to take ownership of product-level testing and validation across a range of innovative safety-critical electronic products used worldwide. In this role, you will be responsible for developing test strategies, executing verification and validation activities, and ensuring products meet design specifications, industry standards, and customer expectations. You will also play a key part in mentoring junior engineers and influencing engineering quality across the wider team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement product verification and validation strategies and test plans
  • Define test cases, acceptance criteria, and test procedures
  • Perform functional, performance and environmental testing on prototypes and production units
  • Use both automated test equipment and manual testing techniques
  • Analyse test results, identify the root cause of failures and recommend corrective actions
  • Support product approvals, audits and certification activities
  • Produce detailed test reports and maintain full requirements traceability
  • Work closely with design, manufacturing, quality and compliance teams
  • Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing across the team
  • Drive continuous improvement across V&V processes, tools and KPIs

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • Proven experience in verification and validation of electronic or electro-mechanical products
  • Hands-on hardware testing experience
  • Experience using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators and environmental chambers
  • Experience with automated test equipment
  • Scripting experience for test automation (Python or LabVIEW)
  • Knowledge of reliability analysis and failure mode assessment
  • Strong communication and technical documentation skills
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and lead V&V activities

Desirable:

  • Experience working with safety-critical or regulated products
  • Knowledge of EMC/EMI testing and environmental stress screening
  • Six Sigma, ISTQB, CQI or similar certification
