SEN Teacher - one to one tutor in Islington
[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is seeking a committed and empathetic Secondary SEN Teacher to deliver 1:1 Maths and Science tuition to KS3-KS4 students who are currently missing from education. This role supports young people who may be school avoidant or have complex SEMH, trauma-related needs, or additional vulnerabilities. Teaching takes place across a range of community settings, including libraries and alternative provisions, primarily within Islington and surrounding Central London areas.
About the Role
[Employer hidden] is seeking a committed and empathetic Secondary SEN Teacher to deliver 1:1 Maths and Science tuition to KS3-KS4 students who are currently missing from education. This role supports young people who may be school avoidant or have complex SEMH, trauma-related needs, or additional vulnerabilities. Teaching takes place across a range of community settings, including libraries and alternative provisions, primarily within Islington and surrounding Central London areas. All locations are easily accessible by public transport.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, personalised 1:1 teaching in Maths and Science at KS3-KS4 level
- Use trauma-informed, relational approaches to foster trust, engagement, and confidence
- Develop and adapt individual learning plans aligned with EHCP outcomes
- Support students with complex emotional, behavioural, and mental health needs
- Teach flexibly across libraries, community spaces, and alternative education settings
- Establish calm, consistent boundaries and promote emotional regulation strategies
- Work collaboratively with parents/carers, SENCOs, social workers, and multi-agency teams
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
- Adapt resources to meet individual learning styles and needs
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Right to work in the UK
- Two professional references covering the past two years
- Overseas police checks (where applicable)
- Up-to-date safeguarding and Prevent training (or willingness to complete)
