We are seeking an experienced Interim SEND Caseworker to join a local authority on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will manage a full caseload of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and will play a key role in ensuring statutory duties are met and high-quality outcomes are achieved for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a full caseload of EHCPs in line with statutory timescales and SEND legislation
  • Coordinate and carry out new EHC needs assessments from request through to final plan
  • Lead and manage annual reviews, including preparation, attendance where required, and issuing outcomes
  • Draft, amend and finalise high-quality EHCPs, ensuring they are clear, person-centred and legally compliant
  • Liaise effectively with parents/carers, schools, settings, health professionals and social care
  • Provide advice and guidance to families and professionals throughout the EHCP process
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and documentation
  • Contribute to service targets, quality assurance and continuous improvement

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a SEND Caseworker within a local authority
  • Strong working knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice and associated legislation
  • Demonstrable experience of managing EHCPs, including assessments, reviews and plan writing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and work to statutory deadlines
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and hit the ground running
