Key Responsibilities

- Supervise whole classes during the absence of the class teacher

- Deliver pre-set lesson plans and learning materials provided by teaching staff

- Maintain good order and discipline in the classroom, following the school's behaviour policy

- Ensure pupils are engaged in learning activities and complete assigned work

- Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil progress, behaviour, and any issues arising

- Support pupils with their learning where appropriate, without teaching new content

- Manage classroom resources and ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment

- Respond appropriately to emergencies or safeguarding concerns, following school procedures

- Uphold the ethos, values, and standards of the school at all times

Person Specification

- Experience working with children or young people (e.g. schools, youth work, coaching, childcare)

- Strong classroom management and communication skills

- Ability to engage and motivate pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and/or KS2 where required)

- Confidence supervising classes independently

- Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately

- A professional, calm, and adaptable approach

- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities

- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
