A well-established design and manufacturing company is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Inspection Engineer to join their team. Role Overview

The Inspection Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of components produced both in-house and by external subcontractors. Responsibilities include conducting first-off inspections, performing final inspections, generating process plans, and managing the calibration of measurement equipment. This role reports directly to the Quality Engineer and requires a combination of hands-on engineering expertise, analytical thinking, and proficiency with IT and measurement systems.

The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining high-quality standards, improving inspection processes, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across production operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct first-off article inspections of manufactured components to ensure they meet engineering specifications.
  • Perform final inspections of fuel injection components and related equipment.
  • Generate and maintain accurate process plans for inspection and measurement activities.
  • Carry out calibration, maintenance, and verification of measuring equipment to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Record inspection results and generate detailed reports for internal use and for customers where required.
  • Follow established quality procedures and create new process guides when necessary.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve workflow, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the quality function.

Candidate Requirements

  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from technical engineering drawings.
  • Previous experience in inspection and recording measurements of metal-engineered components.
  • Hands-on knowledge of precision hand measurement tools, including verniers and micrometers.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and IT-based inspection reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work proactively across departments.
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of quality management systems and standards.
  • Understanding of CNC machining processes.
  • Familiarity with FAIR, ISIR, and PPAP inspection procedures.
  • Experience managing calibration systems.

Salary Up to £33,000 per annum, depending on experience.
