Safeguarding Officer

Salary: £25,000 - £28,000 yearly

Location: Birmingham , United Kingdom

Position Overview

As a Safeguarding Officer at [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] Services, you will be pivotal in ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals under our care. Your primary responsibility will be to protect vulnerable individuals from harm, abuse, and neglect by implementing effective safeguarding policies and procedures. You will work closely with staff, residents, and external agencies to create a secure and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and review safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the protection of vulnerable individuals.
  • Conduct risk assessments and create safety plans for individuals at risk of harm, abuse, or neglect.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on safeguarding policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Act as the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns, responding promptly and effectively to any reports or allegations.
  • Liaise with social workers, healthcare professionals, law enforcement, and other external agencies to coordinate safeguarding efforts.
  • Conduct investigations into safeguarding concerns, ensuring thorough documentation and reporting.
  • Maintain detailed and confidential records of safeguarding incidents and actions taken.
  • Promote a culture of vigilance and awareness of safeguarding issues within the organization.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safeguarding measures and recommend improvements.
  • Stay informed about changes in legislation, regulations, and best practices related to safeguarding.
  • Provide support and advice to individuals affected by safeguarding issues, ensuring their needs are met with empathy and respect.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in a safeguarding or protective services role.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent investigative and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with individuals at all levels.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Relevant certifications in safeguarding or child protection are preferred.
