Job Description:

Our client is currently looking to recruit an Alternative Provision Quality Assurance Officer on an initial 3 month contract.

Are you an experienced education leader with a passion for driving high-quality outcomes for vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people? We are seeking a skilled and committed Alternative Provision (AP) Quality Assurance Officer to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Alternative Provision across the local area.

About the Role

In alignment with the national Change Partnership Programme (CPP), the client is implementing a three-tier model of Alternative Provision designed to ensure AP functions as an intervention rather than a destination. This model aims to:

  • Help children remain in mainstream education wherever possible
  • Provide targeted, timely support that meets pupils’ individual needs
  • Ensure young people receive the right support at the right time and in the right place
  • Enhance consistency, quality and outcomes for all pupils accessing AP

Over the past 12 months, extensive local work has generated clear recommendations and a detailed Implementation Plan. To take this forward at pace, we are recruiting a dedicated professional to support the delivery of this ambitious agenda.

Key Responsibilities As the Alternative Provision Quality Assurance Officer, you will:

  • Work closely with the new AP Operational Lead to roll out the AP Implementation Plan
  • Collaborate with the Commissioning Team to record, monitor, and evaluate the quality of education across all AP settings within SBC
  • Review and quality-assure Individual Learning Plans to ensure provisions meet the needs of children and young people
  • Support the development of a consistent, high-quality AP offer across the three-tier model
  • Champion best practice and continuous improvement in educational outcomes

The ideal candidate will bring: Senior leadership experience within education, such as:   • SENCO   • Head Teacher   • Senior AP leadership   • Or significant experience within the Alternative Provision sector Experience working with or alongside Ofsted (highly desirable) A strong understanding of inclusive practice, safeguarding, and the needs of vulnerable learners
