Family Support Specialist – FDAC (Birmingham Children’s Trust)

We’re looking for a dynamic and compassionate professional to support parents involved in care proceedings, helping them make and sustain positive lifestyle changes through a trauma‑informed approach.

About FDAC

The Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC) is a problem‑solving court for families where substance misuse places children at risk. Unlike traditional proceedings, FDAC offers parents a “trial for change,” with fortnightly reviews before the same Judge and intensive support from a multi‑disciplinary team.

What You’ll Do

As a Family Support Specialist, you will:

  • Complete assessments and deliver tailored 1:1 and group interventions for parents.
  • Hold a caseload and contribute to clear, high‑quality assessment reports.
  • Work closely with a skilled multi‑disciplinary team within the FDAC court setting.
  • Support families across Birmingham and Solihull toward safer, more stable futures.

About Birmingham Children’s Trust

Why Join Us?

  • Make an impact – contribute directly to positive change in children’s lives.
  • Supportive culture – with collaborative working and reflective supervision.

  • Great benefits – generous leave, Local Government Pension Scheme, and additional rewards.

Our Values

We work with care, compassion, and respect, always listening to children and families, using our resources wisely, and collaborating across services to help young people thrive.

Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Roles may require a relevant level of DBS check. Having a criminal record will not automatically bar applicants; decisions are based on the nature and circumstances of the offence.
