Position Summary:

As a Fitter/Machinist, you will be responsible for fabricating, fitting, and machining precision components for marine applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Machining Tasks:
  • Operate lathes, milling machines, and other equipment to machine parts to exact specifications.
  • Perform precision measurements and ensure compliance with engineering drawings and standards.
  • Fitting Tasks:
  • Assemble and fit mechanical components and systems for marine applications.
  • Conduct repairs, adjustments, and alignments to ensure operational functionality.
  • Fabrication:
  • Perform light fabrication tasks, including cutting, drilling, and shaping materials.
  • Work with metals such as steel, aluminium, and other materials used in marine engineering.
  • Maintenance and Repairs:
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and diagnose faults on mechanical systems.
  • Repair or replace defective parts as required to restore functionality.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with engineers, welders, and other team members to ensure project success.
  • Communicate effectively to resolve technical challenges and meet deadlines.
  • Compliance:
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and ensure all work meets quality standards.
  • Complete necessary documentation for tasks performed and maintain an organized workspace.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a fitter, machinist, or similar role, preferably within the engineering or marine sectors.
  • Proficient in operating lathes, milling machines, and other machining equipment.
  • Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Team-oriented mindset with effective communication skills.
  • Relevant certifications in machining or mechanical engineering are desirable but not essential.
