Job Description

Purpose:

- Ensure high-quality education, pastoral care, and behaviour standards for students in a specific year group.
- Foster a positive school ethos of success, equality, and harmony.
- Help all students reach their full potential in a diverse community.

Key Responsibilities:

- Pastoral Care:
Oversee pastoral support, ensuring students are safe, engaged, and well-behaved.
- Behaviour & Discipline:
Manage behaviour and implement rewards/sanctions according to school policies.
- Achievement Monitoring:
Track student progress and help underperforming students, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Attendance & Punctuality:
Monitor and improve attendance, liaising with external agencies as needed.
- Parent/Carer Engagement:
Work with families to support students’ development and engagement.
- Assemblies & Tutorials:
Lead assemblies and tutorials to build community and uphold school values.
- Safety & Welfare:
Ensure student safety, prevent bullying, and liaise with external agencies for safeguarding.
- Team Leadership:
Lead and develop a strong tutor team, ensuring policies and expectations are upheld.

Skills & Qualifications:

- Required:
- Good degree, QTS, and 2+ years of teaching experience in secondary education.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Desirable:
- Evidence of professional development and experience in pastoral care.

Personal Qualities:

- Visionary, organised, and able to lead by example.
- A positive role model who fosters a culture of excellence, justice, and harmony.
- Strong collaborator who motivates staff and students while managing behaviour effectively.
