Learning Disability Nurse
[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] Hospital Ayr Clinicis looking to recruit a Bank Learning Disability Nurse to join the team.
Based in Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland, [Employer hidden] Hospital Ayr Clinic is a low secure service for males and females with a mental health diagnosis and/or a personality disorder. We can support people from all over the UK. Lochlea House and Gatehouse are two step-down services located in Ayrshire, which are part of Ayr Clinic also.
What you'll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As a Learning Disability Nurse, you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
You will also:
- Deliver prescribed care to a defined group within an agreed framework.
- Assess, plan and deliver, with the patient and their carer/family, nursing care which takes account of patient choice and wishes, and acting as the patient's named nurse.
- Accurately observe and engage with patients in order to assess their needs and evaluate their progress.
- Monitor and review Nursing Care plans.

What you'll bring to the role

The ideal candidate is a qualified Registered Learning Disabilities Nurse (RNLD) with active NMC registration, 6–12 months post-registration experience, and completion of a preceptorship. You’ll have a good understanding of NMC guidelines and show ongoing professional development. A positive attitude, commitment to improvement, flexible approach, and strong communication skills are essential. You’ll also have at least six months’ experience in mental health or learning disabilities care and a clear record of continued development.
