Employment position with [Employer hidden] for a Principal or Associate Structural Engineer – Cardiff

[Employer hidden] has a vacancy for an experienced Structural Engineer with an ambition to oversee the technical delivery of their own portfolio of projects. In doing so the successful candidate will strive to ensure that quality and accuracy is of the highest standard. Whilst doing so they will be responsible for the quality management of commissions and will be responsible for the commercial performance of projects.

The successful candidate will also be confident dealing with clients from all backgrounds and sectors, and will retain the confidence of existing clients whilst seeking opportunities to generate work with new clients.

The role has arisen due to succession planning as our Cardiff office’s Structural Engineering Director moves towards retirement. As such there are opportunities for further career development potentially leading to Board level subject to performance and agreement. Whilst the role is immediately available, we can be flexible on the appointment date over the next six months.

We have projects throughout the UK, but most work is in South Wales and the West of England.

As a project leader, the role therefore requires the candidate to be empathetic and supportive of staff, and they will be confident and engaging with our valued clients. The candidate will also undertake technical design and reporting work themselves so they will be required to have good written and verbal communication skills.

They will be highly knowledgeable in the design and detailing of all major structural materials and an awareness or knowledge of–

  • TEKLA – TSD & Portal Frame
  • Scia
  • Tedds
  • Revit Structure
  • AutoCAD

will be helpful.

The successful candidate is likely to have at least ten years post graduate experience and will already be used to taking design responsibility for projects. They are likely to be Chartered but applications from candidates who have a similar level of experience and expertise are welcomed.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Board.
