The Company

Our client, [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is a leading global manufacturing company based in Worcester. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a market leading Machine Tool manufacturer who have been at the forefront of the industry for many years.

Due to increased workload within the department, our client now has a requirement for an Assembly Precision Spindle Operative.

Job Description

The Role

The role is to repair broken Mazak spindles to new standards and will involve various assembly tasks related to spindle build such as:

  • Precision measuring of spindle components.
  • Precision assembly and adjustment related to Mazak work instructions.
  • Carrying out various quality checks during the assembly process involving precision equipment such as micrometers, test bars, dial test indicators, clamp force and axial force gauges.
  • Balancing of spindle cartridges.
  • Electrical checks of stators (new and re-used/repaired) to ensure conformance to standard Mazak check sheets.
  • Some electrical assembly work is required however the role is mainly mechanically focused .

The Person

Essential Criteria

  • Background in precision engineering.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and good communication, attention to detail.
  • Organised, able to plan ahead and good ability to follow written procedures.
  • Ability to work to tight tolerances using hand tools and measuring equipment

Desirable Criteria

  • Apprentice trained.
  • Good understanding of mechanical component drawings and assemblies.
  • Previous experience in spindle assembly.
  • Good understanding of testing electrical motors and fault finding.
  • Previous experience with vernier callipers, depth mics, force gauges and micrometers.
  • IT skills, and previous experience with Microsoft packages
