Senior Live-In Carer
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Live-In Carer to provide high-quality, personalised care for service users within their own homes. This role involves living alongside the client and delivering tailored support that promotes independence, dignity, and comfort.
The Senior Live-In Carer will ensure the service user’s physical, emotional, and social well-being while maintaining professional standards of care. This position requires strong caregiving experience, empathy, and flexibility, with duties adapted to the service user’s specific needs.
About the Role
- Personal Care Assistance
- Support with bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting to maintain hygiene and comfort.
- Provide mobility support and assist with safe transfers and positioning.
- Health Monitoring & Medication Administration
- Administer or supervise medications as per the care plan, recording doses via Birdie EMAR.
- Monitor and report changes in health condition to the management team using the Birdie Care platform.
- Meal Preparation & Nutrition
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs.
- Support service users during mealtimes and ensure adequate hydration.
- Companionship & Emotional Support
- Offer conversation, companionship, and emotional support.
- Encourage participation in activities and social engagement to promote well-being.
- Household Support
- Assist with light household duties such as tidying, laundry, and basic cleaning.
- Help organise shopping lists, run errands, or accompany service users to appointments.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate daily care records, noting any health or behavioural changes.
- Promptly report significant concerns to the care management team via Birdie.
- Support for Junior Staff
- Mentor and support new carers, offering shadowing and guidance.
- Ensure consistency and quality in service delivery.
- Emergency Response
- Act calmly in emergencies, providing first aid if trained.
- Contact emergency services and alert management as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years in domiciliary or community-based care. Supervisory or mentoring experience is an advantage.
- Education: NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) preferred.
- Skills: Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to safely perform all care tasks as outlined in the care plan and risk assessments.
Preferred (Training Provided if Needed):
- First Aid & CPR certification
- Care Certificate
- Training in medication administration & monitoring
- Experience in dementia care, physical disabilities, or palliative care
