400kV Senior Authorised Person (EA3)
[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is seeking a 400kV Senior Authorised Person (SAP) for the East Anglia 3 (EA3) Wind farm project. The role involves ensuring safety, preparing safety documents, performing switching and isolation duties, managing interfaces, producing method statements, and carrying out maintenance and testing on HV equipment. The position is offered on a contract basis.
Key Accountabilities
- Always adherence to health and safety requirements and help to maintain and improve safety standards
- Achieve and maintain Senior Authorised Person status at increasing voltages.
- Become fully conversant and make sure that all works are undertaken in accordance with the [Employer hidden] Electrical & Mechanical Safety Rules and Safety Rule Instructions, this will include but is not limited to:
- Preparing, issuing and cancelling safety documents
- Carrying out switching, isolation and earthing duties
- Acting as Control Engineer
- Preparing switching schedules
- Managing the interface between system boundaries with site and DNO/NGT as required
- Producing and reviewing method statements and risk assessments
- Producing maintenance plans for HV equipment
- Maintaining the asset register
- Management and/or delivery of planned and unplanned maintenance activities on electrical equipment
- Producing final reports
- Carry out basic protection testing on HV related equipment. Complex protection relay testing is desirable
- Undertaking troubleshooting and fault-finding on [Employer hidden] controlled plant/equipment
- Carrying out inductions for sub-contractors and deliver Competent Person Training
- Keeping in close communication with HV Control and Project Lead SAP
- Liaising with external stakeholders such as DNO/NGT and asset owner
- Reacting to emergencies, site outages and changing circumstances
- Other duties commensurate with the role
Knowledge
- HV Safe Systems of Work
- Knowledge of the key legislation underpinning UK high voltage electrical asset operation and maintenance
- Detailed knowledge of UK industry HV electrical safety rules
- Detailed knowledge of HV equipment
- HV maintenance practices including HSG230
- Knowledge of Working offshore
Skills
- Strong approach to safe working practices
- Able to operate and maintain various types of HV plant/equipment
- Excellent communication skills
- Good people skills
- Ability to coordinate multiple activities whilst ensuring safety and quality are maintained
- Ability to identify problems, conduct analysis and develop solutions
Experience
- Previously authorised as 400kV SAP
- Previously worked on an offshore project
- Operation and maintenance of HV Equipment
- Experience in fault finding on HV plant and equipment
- Commissioning HV plant and equipment
- Basic HV protection testing
Qualifications
- Full UK driving licence
- Previously held SAP authorisation under high voltage electrical safety rules at 400kV
- NEBOSH/IOSH Managing Safely or CITB SMSTS or equivalent
