FULL DESCRIPTION

Summary

The Motor Vehicle Technician/Mechanic will be primarily workshop based and will be expected to undertake mechanical duties as directed to a high level of accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Responsibility for the servicing, repairs and maintenance of over 40 company owned light commercial and specialist wheelchair adapted vehicles.
  • Inspecting vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately, using computer-based technology.
  • Repairing or replacing broken or defective parts and resolving defects.
  • Road testing vehicles to check repairs.
  • Maintaining equipment and making sure tools are in good condition.
  • Following checklists to ensure all procedures are completed.
  • Completing all documentation to the required standard
  • preparing or inspecting vehicles for the MOT certificate and Council tests
  • attending to company vehicles requiring unscheduled repairs
  • using diagnostic equipment to trace mechanical and hydraulic faults.
  • advising management of necessary repairs and giving an estimate of cost and time.
  • Keep vehicles in optimum condition by conducting frequent checks

Core Requirements/Qualifications/Skills:

  • A minimum of 3 years motor industry experience
  • A keen eye for the finer detail and ability to work to timescales
  • UK driving license preferred but not essential
  • Basic computer skills
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Formal qualification would be preferred
  • Dealership experience is preferred
  • Understanding of Diesel engines
  • Confident in Engine Rebuilding, Head Gasket replacement, and Timing Chain changes
  • Knowledgeable in electrics would be advantageous

9 am – 5pm Mon – Fri; 9am to 1pm Saturday
