- BEng in civil or structural field
- Chartered status
- AutoCAD proficiency
- Proficient in relevant structural design software
- Excellent spoken and written English language skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
- Full clean UK driving licence

We are an accredited Independent Connection Provider (ICP), allowing us to design and build HV electricity networks at up to 132,000 volts. We take each project from concept through detailed civil, electrical and mechanical design, construction, commissioning and finally handover to the client. We act as Balance of Plant (BoP) or Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor for new- build renewable and energy storage projects between 5-100MW. We have become one of the leading companies specialising in this sector in the UK and are the go-to people for clients looking to connect complex schemes to the grid within challenging timescales. In the last year alone, we have connected over 200MW of power generation to the grid and have a further 200MW in design and construction. The company is experiencing a high level of growth, which we expect to continue for the foreseeable future as large-scale, carbon-intensive power plants continue to be de-commissioned and high volumes of renewable and energy storage projects are brought online.
The role
We are looking for a highly motivated civil and structural engineer to join our team at this exciting time to grow and prosper within the company. Reporting directly to the owners, the Senior Civil and Structural Engineer will be responsible for the civil and structural aspects of all projects the company is involved in. Responsible for building our nascent civil function, the role will suit someone willing and able to build an industry-leading team, but as the first member of the team, will also be able to produce their own drawings. The selected candidate will work collaboratively with our industry-leading electrical engineering team to produce joined-up solutions for the energy transition.
Main duties
Produce: • civil and structural designs for electricity substations and energy storage projects using AutoCAD – primarily concrete equipment bases, structural steelwork and brick/prefabricated substation enclosures • structural calculations using industry-recognised software • drainage designs • site general arrangement drawings and cable duct layouts • BoQ’s for sub-contractors to price against • cost estimates for tenders from the book of rates Review ground investigation reports, flood reports, topo drawings and recommend suitable solutions. Recruit, manage and mentor junior design engineers and CAD technicians in the civil team.
