FULL DESCRIPTION

Summary

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Associate or Principal Associate to join our rapidly growing Cardiff office. This role marks our first employment specific hire for the Cardiff office and presents a unique chance for someone to genuinely shape and develop this function from the ground up (but with significant national backing). Our ideal person will bring ambition and drive, be a natural collaborator, and have a passion for both the government and corporate sectors. It’s important that this person is able to build relationships with Fee Earners across all sectors, while at the same time servicing existing clients and bringing in new ones.

The key objective of this newly created role is to enhance our growing national employment practice through having a specific focus on working with respondent clients in the public and private sectors. The role will involve working with clients in connection with a wide range of both contentious and non-contentious employment matters. You can expect to run matters with support from a supervising partner and to work with colleagues in the wider national team.

  • Managing employment tribunal cases, including preparation of a response, Employment Tribunal applications, disclosure, witness statements and instructing counsel
  • Advising on contracts, policies and procedures
  • General advice, e.g., conduct of disciplinary investigations; grievance procedures; redundancy programmes; general queries about flexible working, maternity rights, paternity rights etc.
  • Corporate transactional work, e.g., advice on TUPE transfers; advising on indemnities and warranties; preparing due diligence reports
  • Preparing and delivering training to clients from updates in employment law to bespoke workshops
