Summary
E&J is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to support its growth plans. The BDM will focus on analyzing new service line propositions, developing propositions for Local Authorities, and analyzing tender opportunities. The ideal candidate will be an ambitious, commercially minded self-starter.
Key Responsibilities/Duties
- Analysing and validating major new service line propositions. For those taken forward, creating the business case (organic or M&A route), taking the viable projects to market and handing over to Operations
- Developing our proposition to Local Authorities (Animal Welfare Licencing, Animal Feed Inspections, and Food Hygiene Inspections)
- Analysing new tender opportunities, validating viable opportunities and ensuring our bid is both compelling and submitted on time
Core Requirements/Qualifications/Skills
- An ambitious, commercially minded self-starter with an ability to multi-task
- Analytical with an ability to quickly validate / discount commercial opportunities
- Able to get a range of stakeholders onside, including potential customers, Leadership Team members, Operational Management
- Able to own a number of projects, understand and articulate the required support to bring the projects to fruition
- Is driven by working toward sales targets in a Business-to-Business environment.
- Driven by success, making a positive impact, and achieving financial and operational targets
The role:
We are now looking to recruit an experienced Business Development Manager to support our growth plans.
Supported by the Leadership Team, the BDM will be the ‘owner’ of three main activities:

While it is not a prerequisite, experience within a public health / food business, or within a similar role within a public body would be advantageous.

Ideally, the successful candidate will be based within a commute of our Leeds office, but an element of home/office working will be considered.
While it is not a prerequisite, experience within the meat or wider food industry is a significant advantage.
