Summary
Lead the Amplience DevOps function, providing architectural direction, hands-on support, and people leadership to a small, distributed group of DevOps engineers. Key responsibilities include solution architecture, line management, driving quality, security and compliance, cost management, hands-on development, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
- Solution Architecture - Collaborate with various teams as part of the Architect Group to design and implement solutions that meet business requirements.
- Line Management - Manage a group of embedded DevOps engineers across teams, providing mentorship, coaching, and performance management to foster professional growth and development.
- Driving Quality and Standards - Work with the Architect Group to identify opportunities to improve quality and work with teams to effect change, promoting reliability, security, performance, observability etc.
- Security and Compliance - Ensure systems remain compliant with relevant controls. Look to work across DevOps/Operations to identify and funnel critical infrastructure security and compliance issues into product backlog.
- Cost Management – Manage the budget for development environments / software and help teams track and manage spending against budgetary constraints.
- Hands-On Development - Lead by example, demonstrating technical proficiency and contributing directly to team project deliverables where needed.
- Reporting, Stakeholder Communication & Align - Provide regular updates on team performance, initiatives, and challenges to leadership and stakeholders.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- AWS Expertise– Deep understanding of a wide range of AWS services, their applications and constraints.
- Infrastructure as code: Proficient with AWS eco-system IaC tooling such as CDK/TypeScript/CloudFormation.
- CI/CD Proficiency – Deep knowledge of the software development lifecycle, including automation best practices and CI/CD tools such as Github actions.
- Scalable System Design – Experience building and maintaining scalable, highly available systems, employing industry-standard patterns and methodologies, SLAs/SLOs.
- NoSQL Expertise – Familiarity with NoSQL principles, having used at least one commercially (e.g. DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Design Patterns – Familiarity with modern infrastructure design patterns, e.g. Serverless computing, Containerization, Gateways, Event Brokers.
Education & Experience
- 8+ years of experience working with AWS & Cloud.
- 8+ years’ experience as a DevOps Engineer.
- 3+ years’ experience leading a team
- Prior background in a SaaS is a plus.
