FULL DESCRIPTION

Summary

The Product Designer is responsible for providing specialist engineering support through CAD design in SolidWorks and conducting quality checks for both new and existing components. This role involves developing precise and functional designs, ensuring compliance with technical requirements, and generating detailed reports to maintain design integrity and performance standards. By contributing to product development and continuous improvement, this position plays a vital role in enhancing overall engineering and manufacturing processes.

  • Design and modify products as part of engineering projects, ensuring alignment with technical and functional requirements.
  • Develop and update 3D models and technical drawings in SolidWorks as part of the change management process.
  • Revise and maintain technical documentation in accordance with approved Change Requests to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with R&D to assess the need for additional Verification & Validation (V&V) for applicable design changes.
  • Conduct quality checks on supplier-provided parts upon request, ensuring compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Establish and manage a clear priority list of design modifications that align with production schedules and new part introduction processes.
  • Ensure seamless implementation and validation of approved Change Requests, maintaining product integrity.
  • Coordinate with Production Engineering to review, evaluate, and implement necessary actions arising from Change Requests to optimize manufacturing efficiency.
  • HNC/HND Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in a previous role involving updating drawings via Solidworks.
  • SolidWorks Modelling experience.
  • Experience of Change Management systems.
  • Strong experience with hand measuring tools.
  • Strong communicator with good interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work as part of a team and or independently with minimum support.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities adapting to multiple projects at the same time.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • HNC/HND Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • HNC/HND or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) are desirable.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a Product Designer or Mechanical Design Engineer role, or a similar position.
