Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SERU (Safety, Equality, and Regulatory Understanding) Course Tutor to join our educational team. The SERU Course Tutor will play a crucial role in delivering engaging and informative training sessions to individuals preparing for the Safety, Equality, and Regulatory Understanding assessment as required by Transport for London (TfL). The successful candidate will ensure that participants gain a comprehensive understanding of safety regulations, equality principles, and the regulatory framework within the transport industry.

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Develop and deliver well-structured training sessions covering safety regulations, equality considerations, and regulatory understanding specific to the transport industry.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, case studies, and real-life examples to facilitate effective learning and engagement.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages active participation and discussion.
  • Create or adapt course materials, presentations, and resources that align with the SERU assessment requirements and TfL guidelines.
  • Ensure that course content is up-to-date, accurate, and relevant to the current safety and regulatory landscape.

Core Requirements/Qualifications/Skills:

  • Relevant educational background in transportation, safety management, education, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Transport for London’s SERU assessment requirements and relevant regulatory framework.
  • Teaching or training qualification (e.g., PTLLS, CTLLS, AET, etc.) is advantageous.
  • Previous experience in delivering training or education to adult learners, especially within the transport or safety industry.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Patient, approachable, and empathetic demeanor toward participants.
  • Strong ability to convey complex regulatory concepts in a clear and comprehensible manner.
  • Organizational skills for managing course materials, assessments, and participant records.

  • Provide constructive feedback on assessments to guide participants’ learning and improvement.

4- Participant Support:

  • Address participants’ questions, concerns, and queries related to the course content.
  • Offer individualized support and guidance to participants who may require additional assistance.

5- Administrative Tasks:

  • Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, performance, and assessment results.
  • Ensure timely submission of required reports and documentation to relevant authorities.

6- Professional Development:

  • Stay updated with any changes in TfL’s SERU assessment guidelines, transport safety regulations, and equality considerations.
  • Continuously enhance teaching techniques and methodologies through ongoing professional development.

7- Classroom Management:

  • Establish a respectful and collaborative classroom environment that values diverse perspectives and encourages active participation.
