Summary
A multinational insurance and reinsurance group is looking to hire a highly experienced lawyer with considerable experience in the insurance sector, including the Lloyd's market. This role is for a Sole Counsel for UK and Ireland, reporting to the Global GC. The responsibilities include advising on commercial and corporate issues, working within regulatory requirements, and supporting the C-suite. The ideal candidate will have 10+ PQE, experience in the Lloyd's market and in both UK and EU based insurance/reinsurance.
Key Responsibilities/Duties
- Advising on commercial and corporate issues including intra-group agreements, distribution channels and third-party service contracts
- Working within the regulatory requirements of PRA, FCA, Lloyd’s minimum standards, syndicate capital requirements, and the Lloyd’s regulatory timetable
- Supporting principal legal support to the C-suite
- Keeping abreast of legal and regulatory developments and industry initiatives and advising internal stakeholders
Core Requirements/Qualifications/Skills
- 10+ PQE (England and Wales) broad experience within the insurance sector (ideally with in-house experience)
- Experience working in Lloyd's market (essential) and broader insurance regulatory environment
- Experience working with both UK and EU based insurance/reinsurance carriers, ideally
- Ability to work in a solitary capacity, but also collaboratively with other parts of the business
- Strong organisation skills
The Role

This role will have a high level of autonomy and responsibility, acting in a sole counsel capacity for UK and Ireland, reporting only to the Global GC.
The Responsibilities

- Advising on commercial and corporate issues including intra-group agreements, distribution channels and third-party service contracts
