Summary
A global media company is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel with strong commercial contracts experience. This role involves drafting, negotiating contracts, managing client negotiations, and advising on various legal matters. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and clients, providing legal expertise and contributing to business projects.
Key Responsibilities/Duties
- Supporting the commercial team in drafting, negotiating and advising on a range of media services contracts
- Ability to interact across the business and act as liaison between the commercial team and client legal/commercial, external legal counsel and internal business leaders
- The role will also require collaboration/liaison across our group legal/commercia/compliance and finance teams and other agency teams across the group.
- Responsibility for legal aspects of pitch responses and client renegotiations
- Training and advising the business on risk, compliance, protection matters and relevant aspects of law
- Creating a high profile of the legal resource throughout the business and encouraging active legal involvement in operational decision making
- Coordinating the implementation of global legal initiatives across the business
- Implementing data privacy good practice and assisting the business with data privacy compliance issues
- Managing & preventing client litigation
- Managing contract database
- Advising on reputation management
- IP and copyright
- Team supervision of paralegals/trainees and more junior legal counsel
Core Requirements/Qualifications/Skills
- 6PQE+ (this is a guide provided experience is good)
- Qualified lawyer in England & Wales, however happy to consider common law qualified lawyers with UK experience
- Commercial contracts experience
- Good relationship builder with clients and internally
- Media/Advertising contract experience is desirable but not essential

They are looking for a talented lawyer with good commercial contracts experience within media/entertainment. This role will serve as more than just commercial contracts but offer exciting opportunities to be a part of creative work including pitches and other business projects. The successful candidate will not only provide the expected legal expertise in drafting and negotiating contracts and policy, but also skilfully and sensitively manage client negotiations looking for a win-win outcome on both sides.
This will be a high-profile role within the organisation working directly with the most senior people within the business and clients on a day-to-day basis.
