Senior Solicitor - Non-contentious Construction Lawyer

Summary
A Senior Solicitor is sought for a non-contentious construction lawyer role within a multinational infrastructure/construction business in London. The role involves leading on high value agreements, working on major projects in sectors like Water, Energy, Nuclear, Rail and Highways, with responsibilities including contract negotiation, drafting, and risk mitigation. The ideal candidate will be E&W qualified with 6+ PQE and a strong understanding of construction contracts (NEC3/4).
Key Responsibilities/Duties
- Supporting the Head of Legal on high level commercial projects.
- Work closely with senior commercial stakeholders to review, negotiate and draft construction documentation and provide commercially focused advice and solutions to a broad range of contractual issues.
- Working with bid teams to check, amend and highlight risks within client tenders and consider possible mitigations.
- Establish and maintain a suite of subcontract terms and consultant appointments on a back-to-back basis with main contracts.
- Provide advice and support in relation to matters of contractual interpretation, mitigation of delivery risks and administration of contracts to our operational teams delivering high-profile projects across the sectors we operate in.
- As well as the core work, be able to adapt and tackle other legal matters that arise such as the consideration of a range of commercial agreements, supporting the resolution of potential contentious issues and aiding the understanding of the ever-changing legislative environment in which we operate.
- Working with the Head of Legal to: provide legal training to colleagues; supporting tender governance processes; ensuring adequate compliance processes and procedures; managing use of legal panel and controlling external spend; and maintaining template agreements.
Core Requirements/Qualifications/Skills
- E&W Qualified, 6PQE+
- Trained at reputable private practice construction team (In-house experience is a bonus)
- Solid transactional / non-contentious experience with knowledge of main standard forms of contract (primarily NEC3 and 4, Network Rail)
- Market and sector experience including knowledge of construction/engineering projects and exposure to public sector clients
