FULL DESCRIPTION

Summary

The Facilities Housekeeper will work as part of the housekeeping team, maintaining hygiene and cleanliness throughout Thames Hospice, adhering to procedures regarding infection control and Health & Safety. This is a part time position, 20 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities include cleaning patient rooms, communal areas, and staff areas, and working in the laundry room. The role requires adherence to health and safety guidelines, proper waste disposal, and maintaining cleaning materials. The candidate will also work closely with the nursing team.

Core requirements include experience in a housekeeping role, knowledge of Health and Safety, and the ability to organize time effectively.

Purpose of Job

To work as a member of the housekeeping team and participate in maintaining the hygiene and cleanliness throughout Thames Hospice. To adhere to Thames Hospice procedures regarding infection control and Health & Safety as set out in the relevant policies.

Main Tasks

  • To participate in all housekeeping duties in the Inpatient Services, including cleaning patient rooms, beds and bathrooms ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness. To meet required standards of infection prevention and control, environmental health and Hospice procedures.
  • To carry out housekeeping duties to ensure communal areas, staff offices and staff areas e.g. corridors and toilets meet the required standards.
  • To work in the laundry room and ensure that all linen and laundry is handled in accordance with Hospice policies.
  • To ensure laundry requirements are met i.e. bed sheet stock control and ensuring correct supply to Inpatient Services.
  • To follow all health and safety guidelines on the use of cleaning materials and equipment, reporting any defective equipment as soon as possible.
  • To work closely with the nursing team regarding Inpatient Services daily requirements to ensure a high standard of cleanliness for patients and visitors.
  • To dispose of waste following the correct standards and requirements.
  • To be fully conversant with the safe preparation, handling, and disposal of cleaning chemicals used in conjunction with your hygiene duties.
  • Maintain, replenish and be accountable for stocks of cleaning materials.
  • To wear uniform and use PPE provided by Thames Hospice at all times.

Specialist Knowledge and Experience
