Job Summary:

The Facility Cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene throughout the healthcare facility. This role is crucial in preventing the spread of infections, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The Facility Cleaner will perform a variety of tasks including cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining various areas of the healthcare facility.

Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning and Sanitizing:

  • Clean and disinfect patient rooms, waiting areas, nursing stations, restrooms, and other common areas following specific cleaning protocols.
  • Use appropriate cleaning agents and equipment to ensure all surfaces are hygienic and free from contaminants.

Waste Management:

  • Safely dispose of medical and general waste according to established protocols.
  • Ensure that waste disposal areas are kept clean and organized.

Floor Maintenance:

  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and buff hard surface floors.
  • Vacuum carpets and upholstery as necessary.

Supply Management:

  • Maintain stock of cleaning supplies and report any shortages to management.
  • Handle cleaning equipment safely and report any maintenance issues.

Compliance:

  • Follow infection control protocols and health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Participate in training sessions to stay updated on best practices in healthcare cleaning standards.

Reporting:

  • Report any hazards or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
  • Document cleaning activities as required by facility policies.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not always necessary.

Knowledge of infection control procedures and health and safety regulations is advantageous.

Ability to operate cleaning equipment and use various cleaning agents safely.

Good attention to detail and a strong commitment to cleanliness.
