Summary

Small Steps is seeking an enthusiastic, qualified Practitioner to join their team in Richmond, providing support for babies and young children with physical disabilities. We support them in all areas of their development, using the principles of Conductive Education (CE). Parents/carers are supported too, learning skills they can continue to use at home, thus extending the benefits.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, qualified Practitioner to start as soon as possible, to join our friendly, supportive team that includes experienced conductor teachers as well as paediatric physiotherapists.

The successful candidate will be required to plan, lead and deliver sessions in our Parent and Child groups, for babies and pre-school children with physical disabilities. They will be an energetic, flexible practitioner with an holistic outlook and an open mind. They should be able to fully commit to the Small Steps ethos of ‘putting families first’, be able to work flexibly and be sensitive to the needs of families with very young disabled children.

Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is good spoken and written English. The successful candidate will have a professional approach and be able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Evidence of eligibility to work in the UK and experience of working with young children with physical disabilities will be required. The unique Small Steps approach to working with the whole family will provide a new perspective on CE principles. The successful candidate should have knowledge and/or experience of CE although training will be given.

This is a full-time, permanent contract – 37.5 hours per week for 42 weeks of the year (term-time plus 3 additional weeks), although part-time would be considered for the right candidate. The salary is competitive, dependent on skills and experience.
