The Subject Advisor is an expert enabler whose job is distinct from subject leaders, and so is not part of the in-school line-management structure. They do not carry ultimate responsibility for the performance of the subject in question: that remains with the schools. Their job is to advise and guide, to identify expertise and co-ordinate best practice.
