FULL DESCRIPTION

Summary

Senior Hardware Engineer sought to join the team in Cambridge. The role involves hardware development, circuit design, PCB layouts, prototyping, and system integration for spectrum monitoring products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hardware development including detailed circuit design, prototyping, test and verification, system integration and support in production.
  • Develop Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layouts, assemblies and systems for manufacture.
  • Prototype and test new designs and fix issues.
  • Produce design documentation to allow long-term support of the product.
  • Archive designs (software and hardware) to ensure company intellectual property is preserved.
  • Develop bespoke test tools for your designs, as required, using Gitlab for version control and as part of collaborative software development.
  • Plan and prioritise your work to ensure that project timescales are met.
  • Provide weekly status reports/updates on your projects.
  • Liaise, as required, with manufacturing, product management, marketing and after sales support teams.

Core Requirements

  • Schematic design experience.
  • PCB layout experience.
  • Knowledge of bus protocols PCIe, SPI, I2C, Ethernet.
  • Experience in FPGA design using Verilog or VHDL design language.
  • Experience using Linux embedded systems.
  • Experience in using microcontrollers and SOC devices.
  • Experience in writing embedded software in C and Assembler.
  • Experience with system test and characterisation.
  • Ability to debug and fault find.
  • Hand soldering skills for prototype modifications.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the following, including but not limited to:

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Software Defined Radios and Digital Signal Processing algorithms
  • Knowledge of RF test and measurement techniques using VNA, spectrum analysers, power meters etc.
  • Knowledge of high-speed digital design.
  • Knowledge of radio systems architecture.
  • Knowledge of radio circuit simulation and design.
  • Familiarity with rapid prototyping of RF designs and mechanical structures.
